![]() Try reducing the volume level of the microphone to 50% or turn off the mic boost option. Try downloading the latest version of Skype that has a built-in Echo Cancellation feature which detects and reduces the echo. Try using a headset or headphones instead of speakers and microphones, if none of these suggestions work. There are two major sources of an echo during Skype calls. The first occurs when the microphone being used picks up the audio output from the speaker, and the second is caused by hardware, or inappropriate system configuration. See Echo Cancellation for a more details on echos. To check that your sound and microphone are working properly in Skype, you can make a test call to our friendly assistant Echo. She will prompt you to record a message, and then play it back for you – so you’ll know right away if your sound is working. Close the various dialog boxes you passed the test.Select a playback device, such as your PC’s speakers.From the pop-up menu, choose Playback Devices.Right-click the Volume icon in the notification area.Search for the Echo / Sound Test Service contact. Skype and other VOIP apps often only accept one channel of audio. This is usually channel one on your interface or the left side of a stereo output.
